Financial Periods
Open and close accounting periods to lock invoices and fees from further edits.
What it is
Defines the school's accounting periods (e.g. terms or quarters) used to lock down finance records once closed. Closing a period locks its invoices and fees from further edits.
Who can access
Requires admin.finance.read. Creating and closing periods requires admin.finance.manage. Reopening a closed period is restricted to the School Principal.
How to get there
Open /dashboard/finance/periods in the school portal.
Key actions
- Add a period with a label (e.g. "Q1 2026"), start date, and end date
- Close a period to lock its invoices and fees from further edits
- Reopen a closed period (Principal only)
- Review each period's status (open/closed) in the periods table
